Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

Back to the grind w/ 5 miles from Boise FF Memorial to Willow Creek SB Complex; got steadily stronger which is a change from recent training runs; did the last mile considerably faster than the first four; 8:20 pace

Quick run from the Zoo to AM Footbridge to Parkcenter Bridge and back to the Zoo; its still rather warm (mid 80's); lots of traffic on the GB during lunchtime; weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse on Friday so I guess I'll enjoy this late season outdoor running while it lasts; 8:30 pace

GB from FF memorial to Broadway Bridge and back; gameday run by Bronco Stadium; lots of RV's and tailgaters even at noon and gametime not until 6pm; it continues to amaze me just how big this program has gotten in just over a decade in Div IA; 8:26 pace

Lunchtime run on GB; cooler weather has arrived; supposed to be a substantial cool down and rain this weekend; made a conscious decision to go slooooow; I would do this more often but I'm under time constraints since I'm running during lunch

Finally got to stretch my legs for a longer weekend run; tried to pick a spot in between storm systems and it appeared as though I was going to pull it off until around mile 6 when the heavens opened up; by the time I got a 1/4 mile from my house it was hailing and my shirt, shoes and shorts were soaked to the point that it felt like I had added another 10 lbs; running in the rain was somewhat enjoyable because the temp wasn't too low; however, I was worried that my ipod touch would take on water through its protective sleeve so I made B line to the case; 8:33 pace
